IEP Progress™ — Privacy Policy

IEP Progress helps special-education teachers monitor progress on IEP goals and prepare progress reports. It is a progress-monitoring layer; the IEP itself remains the district’s system of record.

Who may use it with student data

You may only enter real, identifiable student information if you are authorized by your school or district to do so. FERPA governs student education records, and schools may share them with a service provider only under the “school official” exception, which generally requires the district’s authorization and agreement. Until your district has an agreement in place, use de-identified data (student initials only), which is how the app is designed to be used.

What we collect

  • Account data: your email address and the name you enter.
  • The information you enter or upload: student initials, grade, IEP goals and objectives, progress data points, and evidence/work-sample files. The IEP document you upload is read to pull the goals and is then discarded — the IEP itself is never stored.

How your data is isolated and secured

  • Each account’s data is isolated by database row-level security, so no other user can see your students or your data.
  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
  • Evidence and work-sample files are stored privately and are only reachable through short-lived links.

Subprocessors

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — used to read an uploaded IEP and extract its goals, and to draft progress narratives. When you upload an IEP or request an AI-drafted narrative, that content is sent to Anthropic to perform that task. We require a data-processing agreement and zero-data-retention handling before real, identifiable student data is processed this way.

Data retention and deletion

  • You can delete a student, which removes that student’s goals, data, and files.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app.
